Chemical Peels at PSS MediSpa

Reveal the beautiful skin you always knew you had with a chemical peel at Plastic Surgery Specialists. Our board-certified plastic surgeons offer several levels of chemical peels in Maryland for Annapolis women who want to restore the sun-damaged, discolored and blemished facial skin on their cheeks, forehead or neck.

Chemical peels are a safe and painless exfoliation process that removes a micro-thin layer of skin on your face. The new cells that form during the healing process produce plumper, healthier young cells – leaving your skin tighter, smoother, and more youthful looking.

The Perfect Peel

PSS MediSpa is pleased to offer the Perfect Peel, a new type of chemical peel that softens wrinkles, fine lines, acne and acne scars and reduces the look of uneven pigmentation and melasma, a darkening of the skin. Our clients do not have to undergo any special sort of preparation for Perfect Peel, and the treatment, which lasts 15 minutes or so, can be done on a lunch hour. There’s no downtime, and they can return to their daily activities right away. However, we recommend that clients avoid heavy exercise and stay out of the sun until at least the third day after their skin begins to peel. The treatment is recommended for people 13 to 75 years of age. Improvement can be seen at once, though we recommend our patients have two or three treatments four weeks apart for best results. We also suggest maintenance treatments every three to six months, especially for people who have more challenging problems like hyperpigmentation.

PSS Perfect 10 Peel

These medical grade, in-office aesthetic treatments are formulated to deliver the desired results for the motivated patient that wants a peel. The hallmark of The Perfect 10 Peel is that it provides visibly apparent skin peeling. Within days the patient’s skin will be smoother and softer with a more even-tone.

Body Peel

While chemical peels are most often associated with improving facial skin, we also offer Body Peels for rejuvenation of areas such as the chest, back, arms, hands and legs. Just like a facial chemical peel, the Body Peel improves skin texture and removes surface irregularities.

Some patients will benefit from a single Body Peel treatment while others may need a series of treatments spaced a few weeks apart for full rejuvenation. These peels are particularly popular for removing age spots, hyperpigmentation, and other evidence of sun damage. A light moisturizing cream helps to minimize peeling and maintain results.

Chemical Peel Treatment

Each chemical peel takes less than one hour, although deeper peels may take several hours. Typically, light and medium chemical peels do not require anesthesia, however a deep peel may require a sedative prior to the procedure to help you relax. After the skin has been thoroughly cleansed, the peel solution will be applied for a short time then removed. Light to medium chemical peels may need to be repeated within a few weeks or months, whereas deep peels only need to be performed once.

Chemical Peel Recovery and Results

Downtime is usually not necessary after this treatment, but patients receiving a deep peel may need an extra day or two of recuperation time. Patients experience some facial swelling and redness, but that diminishes as your skin recovers. The skin’s appearance should continue to improve for the next four to six weeks.

Following a chemical peel, you’ll notice that your skin is firmer, smoother, and clear of blemishes. You’ll exude a radiance you haven’t seen in years and you’ll want to look up every time you pass a mirror.
