Chin Augmentation in the Annapolis Area
More and more residents of towns like Annapolis are seeking a chin augmentation to improve their profile and enhance their overall facial symmetry. A chin implant can dramatically improve a recessive chin or a rounded face and neck. Find out how a chin augmentation performed by one of our board-certified plastic surgeons can improve your facial contouring and achieve a more flattering balance between your facial features.
Typically, women and men choose a chin augmentation because they feel that their chin doesn’t fit their face the way they would like, and in some cases will choose other facial procedures to help complement the results of this surgery. To determine which procedures are appropriate, we use the latest in computer imaging technology to help you develop clear expectations and feel great about the appearance of your face.
Before a chin augmentation can be performed, your surgeon will select the proper size and shape of implant to enhance the appearance of your chin. A small incision under the chin is made to create the pocket for the implant. The implant is then inserted into a pocket over the front of the jawbone.
Chin Augmentation Recovery and Results
Directly following a chin augmentation, each patient goes home with the area of their chin taped to minimize swelling and discomfort. Sutures used will be removed in five to seven days. There is usually minimal post-operative pain that is easily controlled by medication.
After a chin augmentation procedure, patients will notice a more natural-looking chin in proper proportion to all other facial features. They will also see a more defined profile and a more distinct jaw line.
Other Facial Procedures
A chin augmentation can be performed as a standalone surgery or it can be performed in conjunction with other facial procedures, such as a face lift. Your surgeon may make a recommendation to combine procedures depending on your individual needs.
Chin augmentation is considered a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by medical insurance. Each patient is responsible for payment of the surgical costs incurred.
