Before a chin augmentation can be performed, your surgeon will select the proper size and shape of implant to enhance the appearance of your chin. A small incision under the chin is made to create the pocket for the implant. The implant is then inserted into a pocket over the front of the jawbone.

Directly following a chin augmentation, each patient goes home with the area of their chin taped to minimize swelling and discomfort. Sutures used will be removed in five to seven days. There is usually minimal post-operative pain that is easily controlled by medication.
