Annapolis Area Breast Enlargement Recovery and Results
Following breast augmentation, women go home with a light dressing and a support bra to help comfort and support the breasts during recovery. Sutures are under the skin and should dissolve after healing is complete. There will be some post-operative pain for a few days, which is easily controlled by medication prescribed by your surgeon. In addition to medication, your surgeon will give you a list of post-operative instructions to follow to help you recover.
Other Breast Enhancement Procedures
Breast augmentation can be performed alone or in conjunction with other breast surgeries such as a breast lift(mastopexy). Including this surgery can enhance overall position of the newly enhanced breasts. Many women combine breast enlargement with a tummy tuck and liposuction in Maryland for a mommy makeover. Any additional surgeries should be discussed with your doctor.
Breast Augmentation Insurance Considerations
Breast augmentation is considered a cosmetic procedure and is not covered by medical insurance. Breast enlargement patients are responsible for payment of surgical and related costs.
Breast Augmentation FAQ
Can you tell me about breast enlargement surgery and the choices in implants?
Breast augmentation is accomplished by placing a breast implant in a pocket created beneath your breast tissue. The implant can be placed above or below the muscle. There are advantages and disadvantages to each location and you should discuss this with your surgeon.
The operation typically takes between 1 and 2 hours and is accomplished under general anesthesia in an outpatient setting. Post-operative pain relief is achieved with pain pills or a pain pump (or a combination of both).
The location of the incision is usually in 1 of 3 locations - under the breast, around the areola, or in the armpit. The incision site is influenced by the type of implant as well as the patient's anatomy. Saline filled implants are inflated after they are placed so the incision can be smaller or in a place further from the breast, such as the armpit. Gel implants come pre-filled and are most easily placed from an incision on the breast. Silicone gel implants have more natural look and feel and are less likely to visibly ripple. Saline implants are less expensive.
Patients have an extremely high rate of satisfaction with breast augmentation and the complication rates of the surgery are low.
