Lipodissolve
Lipodissolve is a method of localized spot fat reduction that shrinks areas of the body, such as double chins, under the eyes, the lines between the nose and the corners of the mouth, arms, love handles and buttock folds that are hard to firm up or reduce through weight loss alone. About 75-80% of patients have a significant, visible reduction and loss of inches to the areas being treated. Because of the nature of individual response, specific results cannot be guaranteed. Lipodissolve works by causing the existing fat to emulsify, dissolve, diminish and flush almost immediately (20-30 minutes) following injection. The fatty acids are then slowly reabsorbed by the lymphatic system and flushed from the body over a period of weeks by the kidneys and liver.
Lipodissolve is an alternative to liposuction but is not
designed to be used as a weight loss program. A healthy diet
and exercise program are also necessary for optimal results.
Patient Assessment
- Double chin
- Lipomas (benign tumors composed of mature fat cells)
- Fatty deposits on arms, love handles, buttocks, abdomen, etc.
Intended Result
- Firmer, more contoured body
Procedure
- Injection given, which causes the existing fat to emulsify, dissolve, diminish and flush out almost immediately following the procedure.
- Ideally 2-3 treatments for the face at a given site are necessary to achieve optimal effects, while a few more treatments may be necessary for the body. Waiting 4-6 weeks between injections is recommended.
Recovery
- Patients will feel slight discomfort in the treatment area and may experience swelling, itching and slight bruising. Patients will also experience a slight burning or tingling sensation after the treatment for 15-30 minutes along with redness and mild swelling, which can last for up to 48 hours.
- No recovery time; normal activity can be resumed immediately.
- Results are permanent; however, patients are advised to follow sensible eating plans and exercise regularly to prevent new fat deposits from forming.

Insurance Considerations
- Lipodissolve is considered a cosmetic procedure and therefore not covered by insurance.
