Foto Facial / IPL
Our Foto Facial intense pulse light treatments restore your skin at the speed of light. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and radio frequency (RF) have been used effectively and safely for a variety of cosmetic skin problems.
Foto Facial treatments direct pulsed light into the dermis,
or lower level of the skin, which gently heats the dermis. The
treated elements attract the RF energy (electricity) producing
micro-injuries. The injuries are repaired and because they are "micro-injuries" they
are not visible to the naked eye. Part of the repair is in the
production of new collagen which is the "anti-wrinkle" part
of the program. Over a series of treatments, this new collagen
can smooth and soften wrinkles present at rest, decrease pore
size, and textural irregularities.
The light portion of the therapy can help minimize pigmentary problems, vascular blemishes (dilated vessels), and Rosacea can be lightened and improved. The light is directed directly into the dermis (lower layer) of the skin and with a series of treatments the skin repairs itself.
Patient Assessment
- Photoaging of the face, chest, hands
- Redness and small blood vessels
- Rosacea
- Brown spots
- Wrinkles
- Textural depression and irregularities
- Pore size
- Venous congestion under the eyes
- Acne scars
Intended Result
- Smoother, more even-toned, younger looking skin.
Procedure
- Treatments direct pulsed light into the dermis, or lower level of the skin, which gently heats the dermis. The injuries are repaired and pigmentary problems minimized.
- For most patients, the final result and maximum cosmetic facial enhancement will likely take between 4-8 treatments (most commonly 5 treatments over 15-20 weeks). Over time, gravity, sun exposure and normal aging can cause degeneration and problems to reappear. Maintenance treatments 3-4 times per year may prevent these changes.
- Patients should not be tan when having this procedure done.
Recovery
- Side effects are uncommon but they can occur.
Other Procedures
- Microdermabrasion is suggested to increase the effectiveness
of the Foto
Facial / IPL by removing dead layers of skin to smooth it and
allow better penetration of the Foto Facial / IPL into the deeper
layers of the skin where problem areas exist.
Insurance Considerations
- Foto Facial / IPL is considered a cosmetic treatment and therefore is not covered by insurance.
