Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are safe, non-surgical approaches that replace the skin's natural collagen and smooth out facial lines. Just treating the surface doesn't get to the root of the problem. The wearing down of your skin's natural collagen causes these lines. Dermal fillers help to smooth facial lines on the surface of the skin by supplementing the collagen under the skin. It lasts approximately six months and addresses the facial wrinkles around the mouth, on the forehead and around the eye area, and may be used to give a fuller lip line.

Patient Assessment

  • Frown lines
  • Marionette lines
  • Crow's feet
  • Smile lines
  • Acne scars
  • Vertical lip lines
  • Worry lines
  • Deep smile lines
  • Facial scars
  • Superficial creams may help, but by the next day, the lines appear again

Intended Result

  • Softening of facial lines, wrinkles and scars, or a more defined lip border in just one treatment session.
  • Results usually last from six months to one year—just like natural collagen, injectable dermal fillers eventually break down.

Procedure

  • Allergy testing is no longer required with Juvederm, Restylane, and Radiesse. Consultation and treatment can be performed on the same day.
  • Restylane or Radiesse is injected just below the surface of the skin, filling in unwanted lines and wrinkles and adding definition to the lip border. Treatment results are immediate.
  • Some patients experience slight redness at the area of injection that may last from a few hours to a few days. Most patients return to work that same day.

Other Procedures

  • Patients who want to reduce blemishes and achieve smoother, even-toned skin may have an Obagi Blue Peel performed at the same time for enhanced results.
